Huawie 220e160 Snow Leopard 64-bit the Right Way

Posted April 26th 2010 by Julius F

I’ve been strugling to connect through the internet using my Huawei E220/E160
in my Snow Leopard 64-bit. It’s a bit hackish just to connect and get the
proper configuration in place.

I want to put something together that really helps me connecting back to
the internet with this HSDPA Dongles specially Huawei E220/E160. I know they
are both totally different devices but hey, it works fine with me.

Let’s begin:

First thing you need to do is to eject/remove the device.

To start with get the latest driver from Huawei’s website:

http://www.huaweidevice.com/resource/mini/200909258376/testmobile/MobileConnectDriver(4.15.00.00).zip

Install the package.

Insert your Huawei dongle, you should be prompted by the System Preferences
asking you to add the following devices:

HUAWEIMobile-Modem
HUAWEIMobile-Pcui

Add the following devices, but we need to focus on the HUAWEIMobile-Modem,
since this is the one we really need.

Once installed you need to configure the HUAWEIMobile-Modem.

Go to System Preferences

Select on HUAWEIMobile-Modem

Select Advance

In the Modem Tab, fill out the following:

Vendor: Generic
Model: GPRS(GSM/3G)
APN: fbband _if your in the Philippines and you have Sun Cellular Broadband_
CID: 1

Click OK

Fill out the Telephone Number: *99# this is generic with all providers

Once done, your ready to connect.

Enjoy your 3G connection with your Huawei device.
